As part of our efforts to reduce the democratic deficit in our enlarging European Union, the Greek Presidency’s e-Vote initiative is probably the broadest online consultation of European citizens ever undertaken at the EU institutional level. Over 163,000 people from across Europe have so far participated in this e-democracy experiment. For us, this online dialogue is an ongoing process to further engage citizens in the EU decision-making process, and to bridge the gap between European citizens and institutions, regions and nations.
